I want somebody, anybody, to immediately ask one of these fucking grossly overpaid propagandist chuds to define "Marxism", or "Communism", or "Socialism". Don't let them worm their way out of answering. Keep hammering them until they're forced to expose to the world that they have absolutely ZERO idea what any of those terms actually mean.
Hell, for that matter, force them to define "Liberalism", "Conservatism", "Republic", or "Imperialism". I would bet that if we gave this entire adult population a mandated test and forced them to answer all those questions on the spot, without access to any technology, only 5-10% would be able to correctly answer more than 2...
It is sick that these Fox News personalities make millions for spreading propaganda 24/7. Your description of the hosts flipping out because they think the Idiot “ waved “ to them is priceless. The enablers make Trump worse and worse. I just want this nightmare to end.
It was truly cultish behavior. I could not imagine anyone on MSNOW acting like that towards Joe Biden, Obama or Hillary. It would be a simple “oh we got a wave” and they would keep talking.
Btw, excellent summary this week. The extra bit of information discussing communism in current times among the countries that claim to be, or are often labeled as communist, was a great addition. I feel that most people are unaware that there really isn't any country that's fully socialist, Communist, or even capitalist for that matter. Not even our own. The best ones are a carefully balanced blend of all 3. We used to reflect that as well.
Just curious, did you happen to catch whether Fox or PBS broadcast any of Trump's speech at Mt Rushmore on the 3rd? I've been really surprised how little exposure that horrific, turbo-fascist speech received. I personally didn't see coverage or discussion on any of the many sources I frequently turn to.
I openly admit I’m a little obsessed with the whole communist scare thing because I went to the USSR and saw Soviet communism up close. There’s really no pure communist country left except North Korea. Vietnam got bailed out by South Korea and started free market reforms early in its communist government. China started them in 1978 because they were trying to avoid another famine. They just let farmers start selling surplus food to local people and that’s what started it. Cuba has far more free market practices than most Americans realize. Honestly if we dropped the embargo and opened up trade with Cuba the communist regime would probably topple on its own. Communism in Vietnam also looks quite different than it did in USSR. China is sort of a hybrid of the worst aspects of both systems. To think that it would catch on here is madness. It would never be popular with enough people. As soon as someone told them they had to give up their property people would lose interest. Even though we have massive income inequality we aren’t as bad off as Russian or Chinese peasants were when they adopted communism. They had absolutely nothing and in most cases couldn’t even read or write.
That's interesting to know you got to witness it in the USSR and I can only imagine how bad that had to have sucked.
After I posted my previous comment I realized that I probably should've clarified that I was alluding more to the milder economic policies, specifically with regard to communism. For example, state or public controlled mass transit, energy and mineral production, and utilities. I fully agree that most communist principles are terrible and doomed to fail in practice. However, had we broken up the fossil fuel conglomerates and placed energy production under public ownership, removing the profit factor from the equation, we could've already been leading the transition to clean and sustainable energy instead of allowing a small group of elitists to hold us hostage in the past.
Same goes for mass air transportation. Allowing air travel to be privatized and profit driven has caused far more inequality and wasted taxpayer bailouts over the years than we should've allowed. Ultimately, what I was attempting to suggest (and should've clarified better) is that all 3 different governing philosophies contain pieces that have appeal and merit, and certain pieces that absolutely suck. By picking and incorporating the good ones while rejecting the awful, that balance can actually succeed at creating a system that's far more equitable and balanced than what we currently have now.
At least, in my opinion anyhow. The runaway capitalistic smash and grab that we currently have is already on the verge of collapse because we tore away damn near all the guardrails...

It is a cult! Love your work btw!

They mostly talked ABOUT the speech rather than show clips from it. It’s the typical Fox News spin.
