Two quick things

1. Fox News calling Trump “Daddy” isn’t just weird—it’s ideological. As George Lakoff explains, conservatives see politics through a “strict father” lens: authority, obedience, control. The “Daddy Trump” bit feeds that frame. It’s not just provocation—it’s patriarchal branding disguised as news.

2. Today I’m watching a new narrative begin to take shape on Fox News: “Democrats aren’t proud of the U.S., but Republicans are.” It’s based on real polling, but its timing—amplified around July 4th—is no accident. This may be the next phase of the “Democrats are traitors” storyline, now being tested in prime time. In an authoritarian context, this kind of messaging—framing dissent as disloyalty—has deeply worrisome implications.

Just so you know the Secretary General of NATO called Trump daddy in a strange and awkward moment after Trump referred to two countries as children. Fox called Trump "daddy" for about a week and has since dropped it. I don't think anyone has referred to Trump as daddy this week.
